April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. She was interested in songwriting was awakened. When she was 12 years old, April wrote her first song Different. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated long hours creating song ideas as well as perfecting the song. Over the next few months, she began taking writing excursions with her father to LA as well as NY. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in her book Take My Hand to help the people in her life who are struggling with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart is a popular figure and also works as a lifestyle blogger with the renowned Ilia clean beauty brand. As a woman born with no left hand, she is an important part of herself. However, it's not her entire story. So, Lockhart's Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her handicap, however it's not focused on it either. What message does it convey? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we are greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance is what defines my character. It's not my intention to have an impact on disability because I have so much more to offer." And it doesn't affect my daily life. I conduct everything normally and I've found my own way to adjust to things. It's also a part of my life, and I think it should be discussed. Lockhart inspires us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. Even so, Lockhart admits having moments that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance as well as wearing clothes which displayed her arms. It's her choice to wear what she wants, and she proudly shares photos of her dressed in her favorite outfits. Self-love, according to her, is like a journey. "I believe that you'll be in that place," she said. It's a fact that I see common to everyone regardless of what they are struggling with. I believe having friends around you who really understand you and can see your feelings is crucial because they'll be the people who will remind you what you concerned about?
